News: open for subs!

today! hooray!

Minimally, at least.  Do begin to submit.  Try to not flood us.  We'd appreciate it if you're forgiving of errors as we're still coding the submission application process, but any and all feedback at the moment is welcome. :)

[[edited July 11 -- we just added the "word count" required field, and had a few hiccoughs with it during development.  Again, we really, really appreciate your patience, and thank you for submitting.  We're getting some great stuff, already, and are really looking forward to sharing it with the world with the first issue ]]

- reddit, digg, facebook, stumbleupon, etc... please! ;)

Fantastic. Love this site, love it all. I will most definitely be submitting artwork.

I tried to submit just now but got an error message after hitting the little button. Haven't received a confirmation that the story got through to you. Is anyone out there let me know whether it got through?

I was thinking about submitting an excerpt from the unfinished sequel to my first published novel. It stands alone, but I would want to use it as a chapter in the novel. Please comment.

Thanks,

Robert Eggleton

Neila -- sorry, the site is still moderately under construction. Generally an error like that is just the result of a temporary type. We did actually receive a submission from you -- you should be able to see it under your "SUBMITTER MENU". Thank you for your submission, and your patience. :)

Robert -- my understanding, largely from Miss Snark, is that publishers love to have scenes pre-published, and we at GUD would be happy to see something we've published make its way to novelhood. Any further questions, just ask editor@gudmagazine.com !

And now I need to run and make it so we actually get notified that there are new comments. ;)

Neila -- Ack! Earlier blog comment to the contrary, we received an email notification of your work, but it seems the work itself didn't make it into the system. Very sorry, please do submit it again!

I had the same problem submitting a short story-will try again later unless you can let me know that you've received it. Thanks.

mspence -- very sorry about that, as well. I figured out that the submission process was barfing on the word count; it has been made more robust, and should work now. As well, any future errors of a similar sort should at least be more user-friendly, and give us a bit more of a clue as to what's going on as well. Thank you for your patience (I've emailed you directly).

How about a persistent login feature, Kaolin? I'm pretty lousy with passwords...

Yeah, I have to admit I was being a little lazy there. I'll try to add that in over the next day or so. Somewhere, I have a link for how to make that uber-secure.

How exactly do you submit?

Looks like you've got a great idea going here!

Thanks for the kind comment. To submit, click on 'sub' in the menu, and then scroll down to the bottom (after reading everything carefully to make sure you like what you're getting into). There's a form at the bottom to describe and attach your piece.

Hmm, maybe its my browser, but the only menu that I see is the menu for the recent posts.

We should discuss this via email--I think that would be faster.
